News from the Board of Directors of Artists in Real Time, which is the non profit which runs Open Studio Hartford : After many years of excellence as our Chairman of the Board, John Avignon has stepped down and we are proud to welcome Keith Rhoden as our new Chairman. Keith , a fine artist in his own right, has served as a board member and will now take over leadership of the A.R.T.

Artists Information Meeting at Artspace Tonight!

We're continuing the popular "Getting the Most Out of Open Studio" artist panel, at which several Open Studio Hartford artists share their tips for using Open Studio as a platform to increase your name recognition, build your contact list, and most importantly, make those sales! This year's panelists include long-time Open Studio artists Roz Spier and Donna Zieky and will be moderated by artist and Artists in Real Time board member, Patricia Rosoff.

We'll be on hand to answer questions, share new information and materials, and listen to your feedback and suggestions. Please bring your questions and input this evening, Wednesday, September 16, 2009, 6 to 8 PM at the Artspace gallery, 555 Asylum Street, Hartford.

Last Registration Deadline to Guarantee Listing in Printed Promotional Materials - AUGUST 31!

The final artist registration deadline is fast approaching! Artists must register by 8/31 in order to guarantee a listing in the Open Studio Hartford pull-out spread featured in the Hartford Advocate the week of the event, as well as the Open Studio Hartford 2009 brochure. These are two of the primary ways visitors find out which artists are showing and where during the weekend, so you don't want to be left out. You can register online right now @ openstudiohartford.com/registration or download the registration form if snail mail is your thing - but make sure you get it in the mail before 8/31 to meet the deadline.

Open Studio Hartford Artist Registration Open!

The registration period for the 20th Annual Open Studio Hartford is
now underway! Artists can register simply & pay securely
online now. The online registration can be found at:

If you participated in Open Studio 2008 and register for this year’s
event by June 30, 2009, we will reserve the same space for you as last
year (or better if another space becomes available). Mailing or
emailing a photo of your art by the June 30th deadline will also
increase the chances that your piece will be featured on the Open
Studio Hartford 2009 poster and other promotional materials.

Please note that this year, ALL participating artists will become
members of Artists in Real Time with no additional membership fee.
This means that you will receive a FREE Jerry’s Card for a 10%
discount on store purchases at Jerry’s Artarama. Cards will be
distributed along with other information at our September 16, 2009
artists meeting.

We hope you will all participate in the 20th Open Studio Hartford. If

Plans are being finalized! Application forms are nearly ready but in the meantime SAVE THE DATES.
Hartford Open Studio 2009 will be held on November 13,14,15. The most noticeable change is the Opening Celebration will be on Friday night and artists may set up their work to be available for sale to the great crowd that comes to the Gallery Party. The new website is being born and we are almost ready to announce this years coordinator.

Be ready to be early with your application. If you apply in June, the fee is only $50. to exhibit. If you dally, the fee goes up by $10. a month and if you are REALLY late, you will not be included in the published brochure, the website or the great ad section in the Hartford Advocate. Jerry's Artarama is underwriting the brochure this year so there is sure to be a great listing of all the different locations this year. Stay tuned for more!!!
